Wow, you just got engaged, how wonderful is that? Of course after you’ve phoned all of your relatives, those you love, those you don’t, your friends and your enemies, then probably passed out fliers at the local supermarket… you have some decisions and planning to do. Don’t worry, odds are you’ve probably got at least a little bit of time before, well, you know, not a shotgun wedding? Good.
Here are some of the basic tips on where to start, getting this stuff out of the way early will help make the rest of the planning run a bit smoother, for obvious reasons.
Discuss What Type Of Wedding You Want To Have – is it going to be big? Is it going to be on the beach? In the backyard? At your parents house? Giant ballroom? Church, synagogue, or otherwise?
Agree To A Budget, More Or Less – yes, your budget will almost certainly be blown, and then of course you’ll have to make some saving, cutbacks along the way, but no matter, start with the basics, what you think you’re willing to spend, then go from there.
Pick A Venue – yep, unless you’re going to do a backyard wedding, then you need to pick a wedding venue, once you’ve done that a lot of everything else falls in to place, ie. when you can have it, how many people you can invite, what type of wedding it will be… you get the idea. Venue, then date.
Get Yourself A Cocktail – I mean that somewhat tongue in cheek, although not really, take a breather, you’ve done good, enjoy that newly engaged calm, have fun and relax, do not get all worked up, remember a wedding is a big party.
