Ever since I started this site, in the back of my mind I have always wanted to try and do an in-depth investigation in to the various practices and traditions across the world of how different cultures celebrate their weddings. I’ve known that all cultures, even as relatively similar as our neighbors across the pond have different customs, but its been difficult (or maybe I’m just a little overwhelmed and lazy) to find a definitive guide to all of those practices, not to say that I haven’t looked. One thing about the internet, goes without saying, it’s never so easy to weed out the rumor from the truth, so finding good resources is never so easy. In my wonderings I’ve managed to come across a quick, and seemingly well researched article that begins to just tough on the subject matter, in particular the various weddings cakes from a handful of different cultures – from an ex-patriot site. I’m happy to give them the benefit of the doubt, nothing seems to out of the ordinary or off the wall that would lead me to discount or ignore the article. In quick list format, they cover the following countries:
The United Kingdom
Not such a bad mashup and it got me to thinking that maybe the best way to approach the subject of different wedding traditions in different cultures was to simple make the best effort to record, comment and post on those that I did find. So here’s the first of those. In some following posts I’ll do my very best to expand on the subject matter as best I can.
