My husband and I were married in September of 2012, in a relatively small ceremony (just over 70 guests, if memory serves), we were engaged for about 6 months before actually tying the knot. I mostly planned the whole wedding myself, although, the hotel we chose in NYC had a wonderful event staff and helped tremendously, but it was still a ton of work – fun, but a ton of work. While he was always around to help, hubs, more or less stayed out of the planning and left it up to me, of course giving opinion and guidance when I asked for it. On those days when my family, or vendors were driving me nuts he would just say, “All you have to remember honey is A Cake And Wine and then we’re on a plane to somewhere no one will be able to find for two weeks (referring of course to our honeymoon)”. And so it was that the basic idea for this site was born and thus the title – “A Cake And Wine” – when all is said and done, a wedding is just a really big party celebrating the love and union of two people, you get together with friends and family, have cake and wine and then go off on a vacation. That of course is the idealized version.
We started this site as a regular wedding blog, about real weddings for real couples, because it’s a wonderful celebration of life and a wedding should be shared with all. So, hopefully you enjoy our site, maybe it gives you some inspiration for your wedding, or maybe it’s just a fun place to see other people’s memories and everything they’ve done.
